"The quality of their product and service is unparalleled. I’ve worked with many others, and they are simply the best."

From printing to the Panama Canal, why Krupps Brothers consider M. A. Silva part of the family.

When Desiree O’Donovan joined Krupps Brothers Winery a decade ago, she inherited all their suppliers. Wary of being saddled with her predecessor’s decisions, she set about evaluating each partner carefully. From her first interaction, she couldn’t have been more delighted with M. A. Silva. So much so, that over the next few vintages her unwavering confidence in their products and seamless customer service led her to consolidate all their cork and glass purchasing with M.A. Silva—a decision that has been consistently rewarded by their high standards.

“The quality of their product and service is unparalleled. I’ve worked with many others, and they are simply the best,” Desiree enthused.

Desiree underscores M. A. Silva’s rapid response to any issues, a vital factor in the wine industry where delays can be financially detrimental. She recalled a particular incident when the winery faced an 11th hour bottling challenge due to user error on their bottling machine. The M.A. Silva sales manager immediately drove to the winery at night, diagnosed the problem, and guided the workers on correctly threading the labels, ensuring their production remained on schedule. “They know their products and the business inside and out,” Desiree notes. “So when discussions arise around production processes, machinery decisions, or cost of goods (COG), they always offer invaluable suggestions,” she continues.

In addition to their deep knowledge of the winemaking process, Desiree expresses appreciation for the supplier’s proactive approach to sustainability. She specifically mentions the lighter glass options the company has introduced. “They have provided us with exceptional lighter glass options that are excellent for sustainability, and help meet the needs of modern consumers,” she remarked.

A third benefit of partnering with M.A. Silva is what she calls “a proactive approach to customer service.” This forward-thinking approach comes from decades of being attuned to winery’s needs. An example she gives is receiving an unexpected phone call from her M. A. Silva contact about a glass order. It seems the sales manager had been monitoring shipping through the Panama Canal and noticed a delay. He wanted to inform Desiree ahead of the shipping container updates so she could adjust her bottling plans. It’s almost like having a production assistant,” she laughs.

M. A. Silva is elated to have such a positive and enduring relationship with Krupps Brothers Winery. By combining the application of deep industry married with a forward view of customer service and an eye for sustainability, the firm looks forward to continuing support of the winery’s success.
